Urban Air Mobility (UAM) is the concept of mobility and transportation of people and goods which centres around urban connectivity. This fast-growing ecosystem is looking to use innovative aerial vehicles aiming to be a more sustainable, electric, quiet and cheaper version of helicopters or ground transportation, which can be used for a variety of applications. What are the promises that the industry has made and how would we fulfil community expectations? Is it an evolution or revolution and what’s in it for me? We will address a number of common questions related to UAM all to understand the impact the industry will have on our daily life upon mass-implementation.

Sophie Harker MMath CEng MIET MRAeS, Senior Engineer, BAE Systems
This talk will introduce the concept of ‘iconic projects’ and how they impact sustainability and the future of engineering. She will also delve into some of the technical detail behind one such project: the Skylon spaceplane.
Designing the foundations for autonomous flight
Edita Chavez-Heredia MIET, Software Engineer TEKTowr
The UK's Future Flight Challenge aims to kick-start the revolution in Advanced Air Mobility, positioning the UK's aviation sector at the forefront of demonstrating fully integrated autonomous and electric flight to open a projected £42Bn worth of value to the economy by 2030. This talk highlights some of the challenges and opportunities in setting about revolutionising the way we move people and goods safely through the skies and modernising a heritage data exchange ecosystem that's developed over nearly 100 years of piloted aviation.
